A large number of butterflies have been put on display stands in the National History museum as part of an exhibition that will soon be ending.
Butterfly Explorers is an exhibition on the museum's east lawn and offers visitors the chance to explore different habitats of species from across a number of continents.
The exhibition is due to end on 26 September, so this may be the last chance for butterfly-lovers to see the colourful insects.
Highlights of the exhibition include a butterfly house, which has hundreds of live butterflies, four different habitat zones, a maze, a tree-house and a shop for butterfly fans.
There is also a hatchery where visitors can learn about chrysalises and emerging butterflies.
Blanca Huertas, butterfly curator at the museum, spoke about her love of the creatures following her discovery of a new species of butterfly in 2007.
She said: "I like butterflies for the same reason that men like women, I guess. They are so beautiful but at the same time so complex and full of mysteries."
